Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 1794-IT8 is a high-resolution thermocouple and millivolt input module for the FLEX I/O platform. It provides eight independently configurable differential input channels, supporting a wide range of thermocouple types as well as direct millivolt signals for precise temperature measurement.

Using a 16-bit A/D converter, the 1794-IT8 delivers high accuracy for critical thermal monitoring. Integrated cold junction compensation (CJC) support and open-wire detection ensure reliable data acquisition, even in harsh industrial environments. Its modular FLEX I/O design allows I/O to be installed close to field sensors, reducing wiring complexity, cabinet space, and installation costs.

Technical FAQ

Q: Does the 1794-IT8 require a separate CJC sensor?
A: Yes. Accurate thermocouple measurement requires a CJC-enabled terminal base, such as the 1794-TB3T, to compensate for ambient connection temperature.

Q: What happens if a thermocouple wire breaks?
A: The module provides open-circuit detection. When a break is detected, the channel drives to a predefined fault value (typically full scale) to alert the controller.

Q: Can different thermocouple types be mixed on one module?
A: Yes. Each channel is independently configurable in the controller software for its specific thermocouple type or millivolt range.
